PhD in Astrophysics

Laura Salo is an astrophysics PhD student at the University of Minnesota.  She is working with Dr. Pat Kelly in studying the host galaxies of supernovae.  Currently, she is examining the nebular emission line patterns of these galaxies to search for differences between galaxies that have hosted multiple Type II-P supernovae and those that have hosted multiple stripped-envelope supernovae.  Laura is excited about this DSMMA program and hopes that it will broaden her horizons, letting her explore another area of interest and possibly tie it into her current area of research.
