Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and Director of Graduate Studies, Data Science Graduate Program

After growing up in New York City, I went to college and graduate school and ended up at the U as an assistant professor.  I've been here over 30 years working in computational mathematics in general and numerical linear algebra in particular.  Most years I do a lot of traveling, not only to conferences but also to visit my wife's family in Italy when I can eat some real Italian food.  I also have been playing in a community orchestra including everything from Christmas favorites to Brahms symphonies. While stuck at home during the current pandemic, I've taken up some bread baking.
