University of Minnesota encourages a diverse representation of perspectives and provides specific funding opportunities for underrepresented groups. Our students have received many competitive university and national fellowships. We list below several internal and external stipends and fellowships that are particularly suitable for the Data Science in Multi-Messenger Astrophysics program. We also recommend visiting the University's scholarships page .

NRT Stipend

Several graduate students participating in the Data Science in Multi-Messenger Astrophysics program each year will be selected to receive a one-year-long stipend in the amount of $34,000, in addition to covering the tuition, fees, and medical insurance for the year. Only U.S. citizens and permanent residents will be eligible for the stipend support. All students participating in the program (including international students) will be eligible to apply for travel support to attend conferences. Further information about how to apply can be found here.

Diversity of Views and Experiences Fellowships

The Diversity of Views and Experiences (DOVE) Fellowship helps graduate programs promote the diversity of views, experiences, and ideas in the pursuit of research, scholarship and creative excellence. This diversity is promoted through the recruitment and support of academically excellent students (US citizens and US permanent residents only) with diverse ethnic, racial, economic, and educational backgrounds and experiences. The award includes a stipend of $22,500 for the academic year, plus tuition and subsidized health insurance. Prospective students are nominated by their chosen major department to compete in a University-wide competition.
