PhD in Physics

I am a graduate student pursuing a Ph.D. in Physics and just starting my first year in the Multi Messenger Astrophysics minor program (DSMMA). Previously, I have worked with Lucy Forton’s group, researching Deep Learning and Citizen Science techniques to identify transients, with a focus on improved detection of superluminous supernovae (SLSNe). Based on the environments and characteristics of the host galaxies, I developed a preliminary model for a binary classifier for distinguishing between SLSNe and SNe (Supernovae) host galaxies. This summer I am working with Michael Coughlin on the ZTF (Zwicky Transient Facility) source classification project for high amplitude variable stars.
